The Mount Pumori Expedition (7,145m) provides a challenging ascent near Everest, featuring steep ridges, technical ice sections, and spectacular Khumbu scenery. Ideal for skilled mountaineers preparing for 8,000m peaks.
The Mount Pumori Expedition (7,145 m) is one of the most rewarding and technically engaging climbs in the Everest region. Located in the Mahalangur section of the Himalayas along the Nepal–China border, Pumori rises just 8 kilometers west of Mount Everest, offering a spectacular alpine challenge for climbers aiming to step into the world of 7,000-meter peaks.
Often referred to as the “Daughter of Everest,” the name Pumori was given by George Mallory. In the Sherpa language, “Pumo” means young girl or daughter, and “Ri” means mountain, together translating to “Unmarried Daughter.” This elegant, pyramid-shaped peak stands prominently above Kala Patthar, making it one of the most recognizable mountains in the region.
From Gorakshep, we begin the climbing period for the Mount Pumori Expedition. Before heading toward the summit, you will be fully prepared—both mentally and physically—for the challenge ahead. Each day includes essential climbing practice, skill refreshers, and short acclimatization climbs to higher elevations. These daily sessions help build confidence and allow you to test your technical abilities under the guidance of our experienced Sherpa team.
Your guide will thoroughly check all climbing gear and carefully assess each climber’s condition before the summit push. We also allocate buffer days in case of unfavorable weather. These extra days are never wasted; instead, they support gradual acclimatization as we move between designated high camps on the mountain.
On summit day, we make an early morning start, taking advantage of the typically calmer, more predictable weather. However, we always remain respectful of nature’s unpredictable behavior—after all, “Mother Nature makes her own rules.”
